How do I measure a backpack and / or tote bag?
As if a backpack explains the dimensions are 14.5 "x 8" x7 "x9" which is the length, width, height of the bag, and depth? And what about tote bags are they the same? I have a tape measure but I get confused who is who …
I've never seen four dimensions mentioned an ad size for a bag, unless it a cone on her grave, then it is generally classified 14 inches tapering to 6 or something similar. The general rule for totebags, scholarships, etc., is Width x Height x Depth. Sometimes, the width and height numbers are reversed, but the measures themselves usually say something like 14W x 10H x 2D, so the letter after the number shows you which extent it refers. The width is the width, it is right to left on base. The height is How Big is upward. Depth is how it is level from front to back. on bags that are not perfectly square, which means they are not exactly the shape of a rectangle, there is always something to tell you if the width is measured at basic or above. The other measure, you can see is called Drop and is for bags such as tote bags, which are equipped with shoulder straps. Basically, gout is half the length of the strap, and measures the space between the top of the bag where the bag sat on top of your shoulder. A bag with lower than 27 inches will be equipped with straps that are approximately 54 inches long and hangs down 27 inches from the top of your shoulder. A bag with a drop of 9 inches has straps which are about 18 inches long, and will be in place much closer to your armpit. Hope that helps a little.
