Mari at home old Sewing Machine, what to do about the smell of cigarettes?

My husband brought an old machine Sewing from 1940 it still works great and came built in to the sewing table and everything. It smells horribly like smoke, like someone smoking since around her for many years how can I clean up good work would guarantee or old is not it safe enough?

Rub with something like soap oil Murphy, and if you can, put it outside to air. If there is a breeze it may help blow some of the foul air inside the machine. Make certain you protect elements. Unfortunately, you can not tinker with this too because you risk to destroy parts of work. The Muse
