Sequins Foot

What is appropriate to wear to a wedding new years eve?
These are people aged 25 40yrs. The marriage they experience is short (only 10 min) with the family only. Then they have a big party "club" style I was told. As I'm just going to wear mini sleeveless black dress that just a few sequins around the Botom with strappy black shoes. I'd rather wear my tall black boots, but it seems inappropriate. I guess my foot just have to suffer. It will also be cold!
Mini-dress? Sounds tacky to me.
