How does one go about getting something patented?
I have an idea (a REALLY good one, if i don’t say so myself) for a saying to put on a tee shirt, and i was wondering how i can get it patented before i print the shirts and then start selling them. How do i do this, and how much does it cost? i’ve done “poor man’s copy right” before becasue i’m a poet, but i don’t think that will work on this.
You can’t patent a saying, only an invention. In this case, you would need to do a copyright.
In the US, copyrights are automatic, you don’t need to register. But should you ever need to enforce the copyright, registration would help. See www.copyright.gov for the procedure.
