Machine Foot

Hits needle Sewing Machine foot?
I do not use my machine only. When I went to use it for the first Once a year, the foot was gone. (Knocked off? Kids play?), I found a foot and managed to join, but the needle is hitting within each switch. Do I install the wrong foot? Is there a switch I need to play with? Or something Anyone more serious problem? advice would be appreciated.
This happens to me too and yes my children played with it too!. I played with the position of the needle button and it did no good at all, still do. I recommend getting either a new sewing machine or to have it repaired.
